Students with a Psychology degree continue to increase along with the demand for competent and innovative psychologists. Psychology degrees from overseas can be valuable for the international experience they provide. Australia is one of the most popular world centers of psychology studies at every level—from a bachelors psychology degree to a PhD. An international education program can guide you through all the details of getting your degree in psychology overseas and help you work out the pros and cons of moving your studies to another country.

Scheduling Differences for Studies Overseas

Keep in mind that foreign countries have seasonal differences. In the United States, the first semester of the year is in the fall from September to December. In Australia, in the southern hemisphere, the first semester of the year is from February or March through June. July through November is their second semester and the “summer” is mid November through February. If you are interested in pursuing a psychology degree down under, schools and programs can be flexible for your needs and a counselor can help you determine timing with your course requirements.

Prerequisites and Requirements for a Psychology Degree Overseas

A bachelors degree in psychology down under is more specialized than in the U.S. It generally takes only three years for an undergraduate psychology degree in most Australian universities, while in most U.S. programs it takes four years including other accredited liberal arts courses. However, for students who plan to go on to graduate level psychology coursework, a fourth year of more specialized honors is required, entailing an extensive research project and publishable paper of 20,000-30,000 words or more.

Students who seek a postgraduate degree in psychology in Australia must have their undergraduate degree assessed by the official Australian Psychological Society (APS)—taking usually from 6 to 8 weeks. They determine eligibility with transcripts and degree certificate.

Since psychology degrees are so prevalent in Australia, accreditation in universities is regulated reliably through the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

Weighting Pros and Cons of Studying Abroad

For most students, the pros of studying abroad ultimately outweigh the cons—especially when you plan your educational career closely with experienced counselors through an international education program. While travel can be costly, often grants and special programs are available to help cut costs. Studying abroad is a long term investment that pays off in advanced language and communication skills, international connections and lifelong learning at a broader level. You will be more globally marketable with a degree in psychology from overseas.

Feature: Staying on Track with an Online Bachelor Degree

Online Bachelors Degree is also the topic of the following article which we’d like to feature today.

When it’s time to move forward on a career path or break into a whole new field, the average working adult chooses an online bachelor degree program. Not only does it offer convenience, it also provides a cost effective way to learn all the necessary practical skills of a vocation. These days a Bachelors degree is the most commonly required qualification for most entry-level positions.

A Bachelors degree, or a Baccalaureate degree, is essentially the end result of a four-year study in a certain field. From the arts to business to web design, colleges and universities offer this degree in a number of different areas. It is only upon completing a Bachelors degree that one can then move up to a Master’s degree.

A college degree is now becoming a requirement for many employers. Hiring an inexperienced worker off the street means taking time to train an individual who may or may not fit the position. Those with a college degree show they not only have a vested interest in the field but the skills to go with it.

Those currently in their career without an education often find they must obtain a degree to move on or move up the career ladder. However, the idea of returning to college can be intimidating in a number of ways. In the choice between rigid schedules and a 24-hour classroom that is ready when they are, many working adults opt for an online bachelor degree.

Not only does online learning allow students to ditch the hassle of rearranging their schedule, they find there are no extra fees or costs associated with online learning. Students simply pay for the classes they take and pay for their learning materials. As long as there is no interruption in enrollment, tuition and fees will never suddenly rise out of the blue.

Many adults who have spent a decade or more in the workforce simply dread the idea of returning to a classroom environment. While the opportunity for socialization is great, most adults are busy balancing a career with their home life. The chance to focus more on learning practical skills with an online bachelor degree is a much more attractive option.

Another bonus is that online learning can sometimes mean obtaining a degree in a shorter period of time. It is not unheard of for a curriculum to consist of a syllabus of coursework put out by an instructor that students merely follow at their own pace. Students are not held back or pressured to catch up.

At times, a student’s previous work or military experience can also count towards earning a degree. Prospective students should always discuss their options with an enrollment counselor. Many are surprised to find that their years spent in a career can count as much for their degree as their degree can count for their career.

With an accredited online program, students will also find they may be eligible for financial aid. This is a great bonus for working adults. Between just trying to afford the basics of life, not many have a place in the budget for hefty tuition payments.

Because so many in the workforce opt for online degrees, employers readily accept this type of learning venue as legitimate. In fact, for companies that have programs to help employees with costs associated with earning a degree, a majority of businesses encourage online learning programs as an option.

While an online bachelor degree provides an opportunity for advancement, it also instills a sense of confidence. These days, a sense of job fulfillment is very important. Graduates can look forward to branching out in their careers while giving themselves a much higher earning potential.

Do employers look at an online degree differently than a regular one?

The main question is in regards to the University that you are getting your degree from. If you are getting the degree from an online only University it could be suspect. If you are getting a degree from a credible University who has an online university(UMASS for example) then that is a very good university that gives no distinction whether you received an online or a conventional degree.

Feature: An Online Bachelor Degree Can Help You Change it All

Bachelors.info presents today’s feature article regarding Online Bachelors Degree.

Getting an online bachelor degree can be one of the best things you do for yourself. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 1.8 percent of employees with a bachelor’s degree are unemployed, compared to 6.5 percent of those who completed high school. The same source reveals that employees with a bachelor’s degree earn an average ,000 more annually than employees who only have a high school education. Those with bachelor degrees also report more promotions and a higher level of satisfaction in their jobs.

All the above are good reasons to get an online bachelor degree. Not only are you qualified for a better job, especially in today’s job market where many jobs require at least one college degree, but you can do better in your chosen career and enjoy a larger paycheck, as well. That’s not all, though. By pursuing your degree online, you also enjoy some added benefits.

By looking for your degree options online, you can save yourself considerable money. Tuition at brick-and-mortar universities and colleges increases every year, and those who put off pursuing their degree for even a year or two can end up paying tens of thousands of dollars extra. Many people do not pursue their college degree because of the cost now and because of the inconvenience of pursuing studies full time. After all, pursuing a degree at a traditional brick-and-mortar university or college often means long commutes and giving up your current day job. An online bachelor degree is the perfect solution. With an online education, you save money upfront, since you don’t have to pay for commutes, moves, or building fees. All you pay for is your instruction and books, and most online programs even have financial aid to assist you with your costs.

The best reason of all to pursue degree online is that an online bachelor degree means that you do not have to put off a better life for even a minute. While on-campus programs are limited by what a school has to offer, you can choose the ideal distance program for you online in just minutes, no matter where you live. If you wanted an on-campus program in botany, for example, but your local school did not offer that program, you would be either forced to give up your current life in order to move to a school that did offer the program, or you would have to give up your dream. That is simply not a choice you should have to make, and with an online bachelor degree, you do not have to. You can select the distance education program of your choice and study in your spare time, without dramatically altering your current life. You can work towards a better life, one that is better paying and more rewarding, without giving up what you have now.

If your life is not quite what you want it to be right now, an online bachelor degree will certainly help. If you think your life would be better with a more rewarding career, then distance education can help you find a career you will love. If you have never pursued a dream job because you felt you were not qualified, distance education can change that all around. If you want the sense of recognition and personal satisfaction that comes with knowing that you are doing something good for yourself, pursue a degree. You will be pleasantly surprised at the results, both in your own sense of self-worth and in the actual career opportunities that open up for you. From practical benefits such as better salary and better job to intangible benefits such as improved confidence, you can have it all.
